Unpublished research and job interviews
I'm doing my masters in engineering, and I have a job interview tomorrow. They've asked me to prepare a presentation of my research for the interview. The thing is, the PhD student I've been working with has asked me not to share the information with anyone else since not all of it has been...- yllihp

Which EE field is more applicable in industry?
I’m about to start my masters in EE and I need to choose a major and minor out of the EE fields listed below. I’ve already chosen Solid State & MEMS as my major, but I can’t decide what to minor in! Help please? Which of these fields within EE is most applicable in industry? Which field...- yllihp

How to 'convert' from physicist to electrical engineer
Here's the situation. I finished my bachelors in physics last year, and I want to ‘convert’ from a physicist to an electrical engineer. Now that I’ve got grad school offers (MS) in electrical engineering, how do I actually go about converting myself to an electrical engineer? I’m planning to...- yllihp

Undergrad Step up transformers - confusion
I know step up transformers decrease power loss by the electrical cables, but I'm not quite sure how this works... From what I understand, step up transformers increase voltage, hence decrease current, which means less power is dissipated by the cables since P=(I^2)R. But then couldn't you...- yllihp

Programs Which PhD Should I Pursue: Physics or Electrical Engineering?
I never really get this 'overqualified' stuff. When applying jobs that don't require a phd, couldn't you just not mention you have a phd?- yllihp

Advice please? Materials Science or Electrical Engineering
The more I think about this, the more confused I get... The advantage that EE offers over MSE is that it is more ‘traditional’ and therefore appears to be more marketable in terms of finding a job. But… In my case, would doing a masters in EE really be more marketable? Since my BS is in...- yllihp

Advice please? Materials Science or Electrical Engineering
The solid state and materials courses I took both dealt with a lot of the same topics (e.g defects, bonding, crystal structures, semiconductors, thermal stuff, etc). The difference between the two was that while materials covered a more diverse range of topics (e.g. ceramics, nanomaterials...- yllihp

Schools How to choose grad school for aerospace/mechanical engineering?
Well I know I want a career in either aerospace/mechanical engineering. However, it seems difficult to find an engineering job with a bachelors in physics, which is why I want to do a masters in aerospace/mechanical engineering. Because of my lack of experience in engineering, I guess I...- yllihp
