What is the idea behind Group Field Theory by Oriti?

In plain English, what is the idea behind Group Field Theory by Oriti? How does this involve LQG, SF, and CDT?

There is not a popular exposition on the subject nor even a wiki article.

As it's told by the name, it's quantum field theory where the variables are group elements. It could be thought as a generalization of spinfoam for whatever group (spinfoam is constructed on SO(4) ) and I think the best reference could be the article by Daniele
