AI Thread Summary
Logging into physicsforums.com on either the www or non-www version results in being logged out when switching between them, despite both being the same site. Users suggest that implementing a .htaccess rule to force one version or adjusting the cookie domain could resolve this issue. The current setup leads to confusion and inconvenience for users who frequently switch between the two URLs. A consistent login experience across both versions would enhance user satisfaction. The discussion highlights the need for potential administrative changes to improve site functionality.

When you visit physicsforums.com and log in then visit www.physicsforums.com or vice-versa you get logged out. Aren't they the same site so you should be logged in. One way around this is to force www or non-WWW with a .htaccess rule and the other is to change the cookie domain. Could the admins implement this so that we can remain logged in on both?

Thanks
Brandon

Lemme just give this a little bump here.

I always log into the http://www. address. If a link to some other thread happens to be a http:// address instead, I just log into it. Not a problem. If you do this, you'll have cookies from both.

Just saying
