AI Thread Summary
Authors like Michio Kaku and Stephen Hawking, despite their bestseller status, typically earn a modest income per book sold, often around a dollar or two. The publishing industry presents numerous challenges, including low royalties and the difficulty of securing a publishing deal. Bestseller status can enhance visibility and sales, but it doesn't guarantee substantial earnings for authors. Kaku and Hawking's works, while popular, still reflect the broader trend of low author compensation. Overall, even successful authors face significant financial hurdles in the publishing landscape.

I've read that authors of books get paid very little and have many challenges in getting their book published.

But my question is, how much would Michio Kaku make out of "Physics of the Impossible" or Stephen Hawking out of "The universe in a Nutshell"? Both of which where bestsellers and popular.
