Is it possible to use flip-flips to store numbers inputted, for example if i input 5, current will go to 4x nand flip flip and store 0101 and the next digit to be calculated, any ideas on this?

That is how it is done.
 
I want to use it like a calculator, when you press 0 to 9 button 4 bits will be stored in 4x nand flipflops
 
What you want to make is not clear. I guess you want to design a simple microprocessor. In that case read a digital elec book like mano.

I have recently moved into a new (rather ancient) house and had a few trips of my Residual Current breaker. I dug out my old Socket tester which tell me the three pins are correct.
