Can acoustic engineering enhance musical experiences?

Good morning/afternoon!

My name is Chris and I am a university student here to accelerate my understanding of physics. I currently have aspirations towards acoustic engineering as I am a musician and composer at heart and wish to study a field in which I can directly relate to my musical experience. Of course that's subject to change if i discover a tendency toward another field.

I'm joining this forum primarily because I'm in the process of writing a complex science fiction saga and wish to write it as scientifically accurate as possible.
