SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the relationship between Chemistry and Physics, specifically questioning whether Chemistry can be entirely explained by Physics. Participants argue that while Chemistry can be viewed as a subset of Physics, particularly through the lens of Physical Chemistry (P Chem), it also encompasses unique principles that operate at both macro and micro levels. The consensus indicates that Chemistry is not merely a macro-level extension of Physics but a distinct discipline with its own complexities.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of Physical Chemistry (P Chem)
  • Familiarity with fundamental concepts of Physics
  • Knowledge of atomic and molecular structures
  • Basic principles of thermodynamics
NEXT STEPS
  • Explore the principles of Physical Chemistry in detail
  • Research the role of thermodynamics in chemical reactions
  • Study atomic and molecular interactions through quantum mechanics
  • Investigate the implications of macro vs. micro perspectives in scientific disciplines
USEFUL FOR

Students and professionals in Chemistry and Physics, educators in the sciences, and anyone interested in the foundational principles that connect these two fields.

Can all of Chemistry be explained by Physics?

in other words, is chemistry just a specific field of macro level physics?

Ive always assumed so, but I wouldn't call it macro only. P Chem is very micro.
