Using a VPN on this forum is not explicitly prohibited, but its acceptance depends on the specific circumstances and the type of VPN used. Users are encouraged to try accessing the forum with a VPN, and the forum administrators will inform them if there are any issues. While privacy is acknowledged as a right, the forum also reserves the right to block VPNs associated with malicious activities. If users are participating for legitimate purposes, they are likely to have no problems. Ultimately, the forum's policy balances user privacy with the need to maintain a safe environment.

Is it allowed to use VPN at this forum, or software recognize VPN as spam?

It's not a binary answer, some we may allow, some we may not. Give it a try and either we'll let you know it's a problem or you're good to go. Is there a specific reason you are using a VPN?

VPN is made for privacy..

Why you block VPN account? people have a right to privacy..

Yes, you certainly do have a right to privacy, and this forum has a right to conduct itself however Greg decides it should, including the ability to shut down discussion by anyone who seems to have some nefarious reason for hiding behind a VPN.

If you're just here to learn some science and perhaps contribute some yourself, then as Greg said, just go for it. You should be fine.

As @phinds explains, we don't outright block VPNs but if a VPN is known to harbor nefarious activities, we may choose to block those.

I have some solemn news to report. Many in the community had been wondering where the prolific @Vanadium 50 has been. V50 hasn't posted a message in nearly a year. After months of questioning, the mentor group dug in and did some investigation and we're confident V50 passed away early this year. Few members need reminding what kind of force @Vanadium 50 was for the community and physics. A mentor for 5+ years and an annual award winner seemingly every other year. He has a top 10 post count...
