AI Thread Summary
Posting videos to the videos section requires approval from a mentor, and users do not receive notifications about the approval status. If a video is approved, it will appear in the "New Videos" section; if not, it will not be visible. There may be specific guidelines that videos must adhere to, and violations can lead to non-approval. Users are encouraged to review these guidelines carefully to ensure their content meets the criteria. Overall, persistence in posting quality videos that align with the rules is recommended for eventual approval.

I wrote a message to Greg Bernhardt to hear if it was okay i posted some videos to the videos section.
However, i didn't receive an answer so i just posted anyway. When i did the website said an administrator had to approve it, now a week has passed and I've heard nothing..

You don't hear anything when your video is approved. When you post a video, it is queued for approval by a mentor. You do not get a message if it is approved or not. If it's approved, then you should be able to see your video under the "New Videos" section. If it's not approved, then you'll not find it.

Thank you. Are there any rules? I don’t understand why it wasn’t approved

Maybe the mentors found something in the video, which violated the PF guidelines, due to which it couldn't be made public.

But don't feel upset. I also took some time in understanding what videos should be posted. If you get good videos, keep on posting, and they'll surely be approved if they fit the guidelines.

Don't worry - I'm not upset :D
I tried posting a video about the basics of optics to optics. After reading the guidelines the video could only have violated "Advertising & Spam" since i made the video myself. But I'm not sure. Will try with another video another day then :)

I want to thank those members who interacted with me a couple of years ago in two Optics Forum threads. They were @Drakkith, @hutchphd, @Gleb1964, and @KAHR-Alpha. I had something I wanted the scientific community to know and slipped a new idea in against the rules. Thank you also to @berkeman for suggesting paths to meet with academia. Anyway, I finally got a paper on the same matter as discussed in those forum threads, the fat lens model, got it peer-reviewed, and IJRAP...
About 20 years ago, in my mid-30s (and with a BA in economics and a master's in business), I started taking night classes in physics hoping to eventually earn the science degree I'd always wanted but never pursued. I found physics forums and used it to ask questions I was unable to get answered from my textbooks or class lectures. Unfortunately, work and life got in the way and I never got further the freshman courses. Well, here it is 20 years later. I'm in my mid-50s now, and in a...
