For beginners in controls engineering, several resources are recommended, including textbooks and software tools. A notable textbook is "Control Systems Engineering" by Norman S. Nise, which offers practical examples. Additionally, using software like Matlab with the 'Control Systems Toolbox' can enhance learning and problem-solving. University bookstores are suggested as good places to find these materials. Overall, leveraging these resources can significantly aid in understanding controls engineering concepts.

I just recently entered the world of controls engineering for an automation company. I wonder if anyone could give me any good site/tutorial/book about controls engineering ?

Thank you,

Stan

There are plenty of textbooks on control systems. Try a university bookstore.

Hi Stanley,

The book which was used to teach my intro controls systems class was: "Control Systems Engineering" by Norman S. Nise

It was a fairly decent book, as textbooks go. Lots of real-life examples. To do some of the problems, software such as Matlab with the add-on 'Control Systems Toolbox' (~$35 for student version of the add-on) are necessary (and they make your life much easier).

I am trying to understand how transferring electric from the powerplant to my house is more effective using high voltage. The suggested explanation that the current is equal to the power supply divided by the voltage, and hence higher voltage leads to lower current and as a result to a lower power loss on the conductives is very confusing me. I know that the current is determined by the voltage and the resistance, and not by a power capability - which defines a limit to the allowable...
