would it be possible to create a whirlpool effect in a 55 gallon barrel, without any other means of power other than water draining, would it need a trap akin to a toilet to produce it, if its at all possible?

I have never done that experiment, but I think if you do put a hole in the bottom, the draining water will lead to a whirlpool because the flow tends to be unstable with repect to the rotational motion. The Coriolis force due the the Earth's rotation will tend to make the whirlpool counter clockwise, but not always because tubulent instabilities could lead to the other direction
 
Hello! Let's say I have a cavity resonant at 10 GHz with a Q factor of 1000. Given the Lorentzian shape of the cavity, I can also drive the cavity at, say 100 MHz. Of course the response will be very very weak, but non-zero given that the Loretzian shape never really reaches zero. I am trying to understand how are the magnetic and electric field distributions of the field at 100 MHz relative to the ones at 10 GHz? In particular, if inside the cavity I have some structure, such as 2 plates...
