SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on designing a product utilizing a reciprocator mechanism, specifically referencing an AutoCAD 2010 illustration. The initial step involves understanding the type of motion produced by the reciprocator, which is crucial for identifying applicable products. Participants emphasize the importance of clarifying the term "design an existing product" to ensure a focused approach in the design process.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of reciprocating motion mechanics
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD 2010 for design visualization
  • Knowledge of product design principles
  • Basic concepts of mechanical engineering
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the principles of reciprocating motion in mechanical systems
  • Explore design techniques for products utilizing reciprocator mechanisms
  • Learn how to effectively use AutoCAD 2010 for product design
  • Investigate existing products that incorporate reciprocator mechanisms
USEFUL FOR

Mechanical engineers, product designers, and students interested in understanding reciprocating mechanisms and their applications in product design.

I was assigned to design an existing product with reciprocator mechanism as shown below

But i totally have no idea on it..Can someone please give me some advise?

Well, I'd start with determining what kind of motion a reciprocator like the kind shown produces. Then I'd think about what kinds of products (by the way, what does it mean to "design an existing product" ?) use that kind of motion.
