Digital Technology 101: Intro, Uniform Quantisation, Sampling, SNR, etc.

AI Thread Summary
A discussion on digital technology is being initiated, focusing on key topics such as uniform quantization, sampling, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), analog to digital converters (ADCs), digital to analog converters (DACs), signal compression, source coding, and error detection and correction. The first post will be made over the weekend, inviting others to participate and share insights, particularly regarding digital to analog converters.

This semester, I have a course which is a basic introduction to digital technology. I want to start a general discussion/tutorial on this subject. More specifically, some topics which I would like to cover in this discussion are,
  • Uniform Quantisation
  • Sampling
  • Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR)
  • Analog to Digital Convertors
  • Digital to Analog Convertors
  • Signal Compression and Source coding
  • Error detection and correction

I will put up my first post in the weekend when I will have some free time. Is anyone else interested?

I am rather interested in d a convertors, you can start your thread here.

I came across a video regarding the use of AI/ML to work through complex datasets to determine complicated protein structures. It is a promising and beneficial use of AI/ML. Thread 'Urgent: Physically repair - or bypass - power button on Asus laptop'
Asus Vivobook S14 flip. The power button is wrecked. Unable to turn it on AT ALL. We can get into how and why it got wrecked later, but suffice to say a kitchen knife was involved: These buttons do want to NOT come off, not like other lappies, where they can snap in and out. And they sure don't go back on. So, in the absence of a longer-term solution that might involve a replacement, is there any way I can activate the power button, like with a paperclip or wire or something? It looks...
