AI Thread Summary
Threads in the Calculus & Beyond forum can disappear if they are deemed to lack sufficient effort or quality, leading to deletion by Math Mentors. Users are encouraged to report such posts instead of responding to them, as this helps maintain the forum's standards. The discussion highlights the frustration of encountering an "invalid thread" message after attempting to edit a response. The issue of disappearing threads has been a long-standing concern within the community. Maintaining quality contributions is essential for the integrity of the forum.

I just responded to a thread in Calculus & Beyond. Then I noticed a typo in the dummy variable so I clicked to edit my response. Got an "invalid thread" message and upon returning noticed the thread was gone. What gives?

It looks like it was being deleted by a Math Mentor because no effort was shown in the post. That's against the PF rules. When you see such a post, please Report it rather than respond. Thanks.
