AI Thread Summary
Social media platforms typically do not send notifications when someone unfollows a user. Users often receive alerts for new followers but not for unfollowing actions. The discussion highlights a personal experience where the user expected notifications for both following and unfollowing but only received alerts for the former. This suggests a common understanding that unfollowing does not trigger alerts. Overall, the consensus is that notifications are only provided for new followers, not for unfollows.
