Do we have referrals on the forum? Links from a website to here? In FAQ there is mentioned the possibility.
Maybe for the next upgrade?

You mean something like this: http://sonty.go.ro/bookmarks.html ?
greg, I hope you don't mind I didn't ask for a banner (and permission). If you have one send it over...

Hi Sonty.

No. You just give a simple link in a new window. But if the link would contain your ID-number (1296) of PF then Greg would know that you provided the link to here. Now he can know this also but need to check all incoming IP-numbers on his server log. In a referrals system this is automatic. It's the basic system used for banner technology ... and to make money when you bring a real client to Amazon, etc.

On the PF FAQ:

What are referrals?

The administrator may have enabled referrals, which allows you to be credited for any new users you invite to the forum.

You gain referrals by promoting Physics Forums using your unique referral link. The link you should use as your referral link is this:

https://www.physicsforums.com/index.php?referrerid=550

Each time someone follows this link to Physics Forums and registers as a new member, your referral count will be incremented by one. The number of referrals you have can be viewed in your profile.

Your administrator will have more information on any prizes or rewards that may be given out for referrals. Please be courteous when promoting Physics Forums by not spamming other web sites with your referral link just to gain referrals.

Yes Greg should be upto it , Yes may be on next upgrade

I want to thank those members who interacted with me a couple of years ago in two Optics Forum threads. They were @Drakkith, @hutchphd, @Gleb1964, and @KAHR-Alpha. I had something I wanted the scientific community to know and slipped a new idea in against the rules. Thank you also to @berkeman for suggesting paths to meet with academia. Anyway, I finally got a paper on the same matter as discussed in those forum threads, the fat lens model, got it peer-reviewed, and IJRAP...
About 20 years ago, in my mid-30s (and with a BA in economics and a master's in business), I started taking night classes in physics hoping to eventually earn the science degree I'd always wanted but never pursued. I found physics forums and used it to ask questions I was unable to get answered from my textbooks or class lectures. Unfortunately, work and life got in the way and I never got further the freshman courses. Well, here it is 20 years later. I'm in my mid-50s now, and in a...
