My question is:
does a north pole attract or repel a piece of metal ?

My attempted answer is:
I think that the north pole alone would not attract a piece of metal. Instead it would require the north pole in conjunction with the south pole to attract a piece of metal.

Can someone please confirm if I am correct or not ?

Secondly, I am trying to think of a good example of the formula F= Bqv. Would an oscilloscope be a good example of that ?

The north pole could induce a south pole in one end of the piece of metal thus allowing attraction.

For F=Bqv, I think that would work, if not, a CRT would work as well.
