SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the preparation for a lecture on double pipe heat exchangers, with references to the book "Process Heat Transfer" by D. Kern as a primary resource. Participants note that double pipe heat exchangers are fundamental yet limited to small-scale applications, often used in educational settings rather than industrial environments. The conversation highlights the need for comprehensive sources beyond the mentioned book, suggesting that any competent textbook should suffice for a basic understanding of the topic.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of heat exchanger fundamentals
  • Familiarity with heat transfer principles
  • Knowledge of process engineering concepts
  • Basic skills in technical presentation
NEXT STEPS
  • Research additional textbooks on heat exchanger design
  • Explore online resources about double pipe heat exchanger applications
  • Investigate case studies on small-scale heat exchanger implementations
  • Learn about advanced heat exchanger types and their industrial uses
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for educators, engineering students, and professionals in thermal engineering who are preparing lectures or seeking to deepen their understanding of heat exchanger technologies.

hello.
I am asked to give a lecture on double pipe heat exchanger . I have studied books like process heat transfer by D.Kern and some online articles. I was wondering if other complete sources are available about http://scopewe.com/double-pipe-heat-exchanger-design-part-1/. I would appreciate if you could introduce some sources to me.
thx for any help.

um.. I'm probably not the best person to comment, but isn't double pipe the most basic type of shell/tube heat exchanger? to my knowledge, this type is only good for small scale uses, and very rarely seen in industrial applications. I'm guessing this is for a lab course or something where students get some hands on experience on heat exchangers, and get to know the basics of heat transfer? I mean in my opinion, any competent textbook should give you enough information to go through a full lecture. Is this like a 40 minute lecture where you're filling in for an instructor? just curious
