Homework Help Overview

The discussion revolves around understanding the relationship between the accelerations of two masses, m1 and m2, within a dynamics context. Participants are exploring how to determine the proportionality of their accelerations based on the forces acting on them.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Assumption checking

Approaches and Questions Raised

  • Participants express uncertainty about how to begin solving the problem and question the relationship between the accelerations of the two masses. There is a suggestion to start by identifying the forces acting on m1 and considering how these can be expressed in terms of given angles.

Discussion Status

The discussion is ongoing, with participants sharing their lack of initial direction and seeking guidance on how to approach the problem. Some advice has been offered to start with known forces, but no consensus or clear path forward has emerged yet.

Contextual Notes

Participants mention a lack of initial understanding and express difficulty in starting the problem, indicating that they may be constrained by their current knowledge of the dynamics involved.

The real question is how would you think to solve it?

Please show your work.

i have nothing to show cause i don't know even how to start .

Start with what you know. That's always good advice.

What forces are acting on M1?
Can't you come up with expressions for those forces in terms of the angles α and β ?
