Electrical Machines: Find a Book on Magnetic Field Behavior

Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion centers around finding a book or resource that details the behavior of magnetic fields within electrical machines, specifically synchronous generators, under various operating conditions such as no load and short circuit.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Technical explanation

Main Points Raised

  • One participant seeks recommendations for literature on magnetic field behavior in electrical machines, particularly synchronous generators.
  • Another participant requests clarification on what is meant by "electrical machine," suggesting the need for more specific terminology.
  • A later reply provides a link to a website that may contain relevant information about motors, though its applicability to synchronous generators is not confirmed.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants have not reached a consensus on specific resources or the exact nature of the inquiry, as the initial question lacked clarity regarding the type of electrical machine.

Contextual Notes

The discussion does not address the specific content or reliability of the provided link, nor does it clarify whether the suggested resource meets the original request for information on synchronous generators.

I am looking for a book on electrical machines. I am particularly interested in one which would described the behaviour of the magnetic field inside the machine during various operating conditions like no load short circuit etc. can you recommend a book or a website which would describe it I don't seem to be able to find anything?

Welcome to PF, Bart.
By 'electrical machine' do you mean a motor or a generator or a capacitor bank or...? I have the impression that you're referring to a motor, but that isn't made clear. Please restate your question in more concrete terms.

Sorry I really left out that part ;) I meant synchronous generator in particular. Sorry and thanks.
