Electrostatic potential of a charged disk

AI Thread Summary
To find the electrostatic potential of a charged disk with radius R and surface charge density σ, the problem becomes complex when calculating points other than the center. The discussion highlights that while the potential can be determined at the origin and the rim of the disk, finding it at arbitrary points remains challenging. Bessel functions are referenced as a mathematical tool used in solving this problem, although some participants express uncertainty about their application. The complexity of the calculations suggests a deeper understanding of advanced mathematical concepts may be necessary. Overall, the electrostatic potential of a charged disk is a nuanced topic requiring specialized knowledge.

no

It looks like a difficult problem iif you need to find it at a point other than at the centre.

I succeeded to get the electrostatic potential on the origin and on the rim of the disk but I'm still trying to get it anywhere on the disk
