Exploring a Culinary Arts Career: Dublin University (DIT) of Ireland

In summary, the conversation revolves around the person's interest in pursuing a culinary arts career and their search for good schools within the EU borders. They mention that they have found a 4-year course at Dublin University of Ireland that leads to a BA in culinary arts. They are seeking first-hand information from Irish citizens about the course's competence and reputation. They have also reached out to the director of the faculty but have not received a response. They ask for any advice and mention their time constraint of 13 days to submit their application. Finally, they express their hope for finding help on a science forum or culinary message boards.

Hello,
i am seriously thinking of persuing a culinary arts (!) career so as to become a grand chef someday, hopefully.I know that the best schools for that purpose are located in Italy and France but i can't speak their languages.
I try to spot really good schools. Since i live in Europe i seek after culinary arts schools in English speaking countries(omg i can speak english :p),within EU borders.Any suggestions?

I found out that Dublin University(DIT) of Ireland has a 4 years course leading to a BA in culinary Arts.

I would be much obliged if someone has first hand information about that specific university course, preferably from Ireland citizens. Is it really good in terms of competence?Does it have a good reputation?Does it worth it? Or, you just graduate with poor cooking knowledge/skills unable to get a good job?Any advise would be of great help,i have 13 more days time-margin to submit my application...i email-ed to the director of that faculty asking details,i got no response and the DIT website provides some information, but it is just advertisement and promotion. Thanks for your time :)

This is a science forum... maybe someone can help you here, but I doubt it.

Have you tried finding any culinary message boards to ask your question on?

Anyway, good luck, and welcome... sorry I couldn't be of more help!

I cannot provide personal opinions or recommendations on specific universities or courses. However, I can offer some general advice and information on pursuing a culinary arts career.

First of all, it is important to research and carefully consider your options before committing to a specific school or program. While it is true that Italy and France are known for their culinary schools, there are also many excellent programs in other countries, including Ireland.

In terms of language barriers, many culinary schools in non-English speaking countries offer courses in English, so that should not limit your options too much. However, if you are set on attending a school in an English-speaking country, then exploring culinary schools in the UK or other EU countries may be a good option.

In terms of the specific program at Dublin University (DIT), it would be best to reach out to current or former students, as well as industry professionals, for their opinions and experiences. You can also look for reviews or rankings of the program online. It is always a good idea to gather as much information as possible before making a decision.

Additionally, keep in mind that a culinary arts career requires not only a formal education, but also hands-on experience and a passion for cooking. It is important to gain practical experience through internships or work in restaurants, as well as continually learning and honing your skills.

Ultimately, the decision to pursue a culinary arts career and which school to attend is a personal one. I wish you the best of luck in your journey and hope you are able to find the right fit for you.
