AI Thread Summary
The discussion revolves around the idea of extinct birds and the humorous notion of their potential consumption. Participants joke about the possibility of extinct species being eaten, referencing a scene from "Northern Exposure" where locals find and eat woolly mammoths. There is a suggestion that if researchers wanted live specimens of an extinct bird, they could entice people with a trade of chickens and rice, implying that such an offer would quickly yield results. The conversation blends humor with a light-hearted commentary on extinction and the lengths people might go to in pursuit of rare species.

I'm pretty sure two birds had to do it to make that bird. Start searching.

Doesn't mean they are still alive. They were probably some hick's dinner last week.

Reminds me of the episode of Northern Exposure where Joel discovers that the locals often find woolly mammoths in the ice, and eat them.

i bet the meat is delicious and incredibly tender.

If they really wanted specimens they should offer to trade 2 chickens and a 50lb bag of rice for the first 2 LIVE birds of that species brought in.
