I am doing some practice and need help with a problem,
I am trying to find the angular frequency of an electromagnetic wave given a general wave equation in standard form
Esin(kx-wt)
I am given the variable k,, and i need to find the angular frequency w. I am not sure how to do this without finding the period, which i can't find without angular velocity.

DO you know the relation of wave number (or wave vector) k with speed of light and [tex]2\pi[/tex]? From that you can find wave length or period.
For electromagnetic wave you know it travel with light's speed.
So for a given k you can find its angular frequency.
good luck
