SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on calculating the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) and the Discrete-Time Fourier Transform (DTFT) of a 12-point sequence defined as x[n] = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1} using MATLAB. Participants express a need for assistance with MATLAB syntax to graphically demonstrate the relationship between DFT and DTFT. The DFT is recognized as a sampled version of the DTFT, emphasizing the importance of understanding both transforms in signal processing.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT)
  • Knowledge of Discrete-Time Fourier Transform (DTFT)
  • Familiarity with MATLAB syntax and functions
  • Basic concepts of signal processing
NEXT STEPS
  • Learn how to implement DFT in MATLAB using the fft function
  • Explore the DTFT and its graphical representation in MATLAB
  • Study the relationship between DFT and DTFT in signal processing
  • Investigate MATLAB's plotting functions for visualizing frequency domain representations
USEFUL FOR

Students and professionals in signal processing, MATLAB users, and anyone interested in understanding the relationship between DFT and DTFT for analyzing discrete-time signals.

I'm considering the 12 –point sequence x[n] which is defined as x[n] = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1}.

I'd like to use Matlab to find the DFT (X[k] of x[n]) and DTFT (X(e^jw) of x[n]).

I realize that the DFT is sampled version of DTFT, and I want to show this graphically using Matlab, but I'm not too familar with Matlab's syntax.

Thanks in advance,

Louie

I need help on the exact same question as well. Can any1 help?

hi. i got the same problem. i don't know why your question has become my assignment question and how my prof came across it.
