Click For Summary
To engage effectively in the GD forum, members should adopt the community's informal style, including using symbols to mask profanity, such as stars or the at symbol. Threads should ideally drift off-topic by page five to avoid "thread death." It's crucial to understand references like "franzbear" and to read existing threads, such as the "killer champions" thread. Members are encouraged to post nonsensical content, make sarcastic remarks, and avoid serious discussions, particularly with certain users like Moonbear. The conversation also touches on the dynamics of humor and the importance of maintaining a light-hearted, irreverent tone in posts. Overall, the discussion emphasizes the unique culture of GD, where humor and off-topic banter are key to participation.

Naw, he just discovered the '*' key. He still doesn't know what most of the words mean.

Yomamma, when you first joined up here, many of us thought you were acting quite mature for your age and were impressed with you for it. However, swearing just for the sake of swearing isn't very mature, and isn't very impressive. Perhaps you should find something more productive to discuss here.

You spelled ****** wrong.

I agree with Moonbear, though. It is getting a bit much.

This makes me think of the stereotypical stars over cartoon characters who are in pain.

It just occurred to me that they, too, might stand in for letters.
Only if they're in thought or speech 'balloons'. Otherwise they're an indicator of physical trauma. The original context was to show that the victim was 'seeing stars'.

I know, of course, but it is interesting to muse on. Particularly since when out of the speech balloons, the stars may be seen as descriptions rather than dialogue.
