SUMMARY

To input a dependent current source in PSpice 9.2, users must configure the source as a 4-terminal component, placing it in series with the resistor whose current it depends on. The dependent current source should be defined to output a current that is a multiple of the input current, such as 2I. This setup ensures that the effective input impedance remains zero, preventing circuit perturbation, while the output is determined by the transfer parameter of the specific dependent-source type.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of PSpice 9.2 software
  • Knowledge of dependent sources in circuit theory
  • Familiarity with 4-terminal components
  • Basic concepts of circuit impedance
NEXT STEPS
  • Explore the configuration of dependent sources in PSpice 9.2
  • Learn about transfer parameters for different dependent-source types
  • Investigate series and parallel circuit configurations in PSpice
  • Study the impact of input impedance on circuit performance
USEFUL FOR

Electrical engineers, circuit designers, and students learning about circuit simulation and analysis using PSpice.

Hello,

I was wondering how to change the values of a dependent source in PSpice 9.2. For example, say I have a dependent current source that depends on the current flowing through some resistor and say that the current flowing through this dependent source is 2I. How do I input that into PSpice?

Thanks!

A dependent source is a 4-terminal component. If you are depending on current, it's the current flowing through the input terminals. Put it in series with the resistor - it's effective input impedance is zero so it doesn't perturb the circuit. Then the output is dependent on this based on the transfer parameter of the specific dependent-source type. The output is an ideal voltage or current source.
