How did you find PF?
google search
Retired engineer (agricultural engineering) living in Tennessee. Came upon this forum looking for physics of adding weight to a sailboat mast and thoroughly enjoyed the discussion found on this site.

Educational background included basic statics, dynamics and hydrodynamics taught in most engineering programs along with advanced mathematics and thermodynamics.

Professional practice was in soil & water engineering, and water resources.

At this point main interest is in physics of sailboats and how they react in wind/wave conditions. However, all physics topics are quite interesting to me.

Then you probably already know that we are fortunate to have several experienced sailors here, like @anorlunda and @sophiecentaur

And there are those of us who can sometimes identify sailboats 'cause they're the ones with the big white flags all over the place.

Hello everyone, I'm Cosmo. I'm an 18 years old student majoring in physics. I found this forum cause I was searching on Google if it's common for physics student to feel like they're in the wrong major in the first semester cause it feels like too much for me to learn the materials even the ones that are considered as "basic math" or "basic physics", I've initial fascination with the universe's mysteries and it disconnect with the reality of intense, foundational mathematics courses required...
