TL;DR Summary: i need help making a motor

this what i have right now the black represents a wire. i don't think this looks right at all. i also need help finding something i can put under the battery to allow it to rotate.

What reading have you been doing about building simple DC motors? Have you learned about using a commutator yet?
 
we havent been doing them in class he just gave us this assigment as a extra thing to do over the winter break. and no i havent learned about a commutator
 
Well, you should do some Google searching for simple DC motor projects to be sure you get some important things right. What you sketched so far will not work.
