SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the feasibility of projecting a Head-Up Display (HUD) on the rear windshield of a 2010 Honda Civic for the purpose of communicating hypermiling techniques to following drivers. Participants noted that existing HUD devices typically project onto the front windshield, and while these could theoretically be adapted for the rear, challenges such as image mirroring and visibility issues due to sunlight or headlights were highlighted. The consensus suggests that while the technology exists, practical implementation may not effectively convey the intended message to other drivers.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of Head-Up Display (HUD) technology
  • Familiarity with image projection techniques
  • Knowledge of automotive OBD II systems
  • Awareness of hypermiling driving techniques
NEXT STEPS
  • Research available HUD devices compatible with rear projection
  • Explore image mirroring techniques for HUD displays
  • Investigate visibility solutions for HUDs in varying light conditions
  • Learn about effective communication methods for drivers on the road
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for automotive enthusiasts, engineers working on HUD technology, and drivers interested in hypermiling techniques who wish to enhance communication with other road users.

Hello Guys ,

I want to have my HUD displayed on my car's rear wind shield so that the driver just behind my car has an idea of my driving (Hypermilling)

I have been looking for a possibility to do this but till now I only saw devices that projects the display on the front wind shield, visible to the driver only.

1. Are there any existing device to project the display the way I want ?

If not can some one hint me on how I can achieve my aim.

PS : I drive a hybrid Honda civic 2010 (having the OBD II port).

Thanking you guys in advance
