What is the Electric Field at a Point Surrounded by Infinite Charged Particles?

Click For Summary
The discussion centers on calculating the electric field at a point surrounded by an infinite number of charged particles, each with charge q, positioned at distances of 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, etc. Participants emphasize that the electric field at the point is the vector sum of the fields produced by each individual charge. The complexity arises from the infinite nature of the charges, which complicates the summation process. There is a suggestion that this question is more suited for a homework forum, indicating the need for a structured approach to problem-solving. The thread concludes without a definitive solution, highlighting the challenge of the inquiry.

There are infinite number of charges each with charge q along a straight line at a distance of 1,2,4,8,16,… … … unit from a point. What is the electric field at this point?
No idea about it.Please help me out.

You have to show some work forum rules do you know equation of electric field and the direction it points in this case ?

It's the sum of the electric fields due to each charge. Since you have an infinite number of charges ...

This should be in a homework forum with the template filled out.

Thread 'Colors in a plasma globe'
I have a common plasma globe with blue streamers and orange pads at both ends. The orange light is emitted by neon and the blue light is presumably emitted by argon and xenon. Why are the streamers blue while the pads at both ends are orange? A plasma globe's electric field is strong near the central electrode, decreasing with distance, so I would not expect the orange color at both ends.
