Hello everyone,

I was advised to join this community while seeking guidance on how to navigate the academic world as an independent researcher. My name is Omar, and I'm based in Groningen The Netherlands.

My formal physics education ended after high school, but I have dedicated the last several years to developing a theoretical framework from first principles. My work focuses on a topological field theory (which I call Swirl-String Theory) that models particles as knotted vortex structures. The primary goal is to derive particle masses and fundamental constants directly from topological and geometric invariants.

I'm joining Physics Forums to learn from the community, receive critical feedback on my work when I share it in the appropriate sections. I hope that way I could better understand the current landscape of theoretical physics. My long-term goal is to prepare my research for the wider scientific community, which includes getting it onto arXiv, and I hope to connect with knowledgeable members here who might offer guidance on that process.

Thank you for having me. I look forward to participating in the discussions.

Sincerely,

Omar Iskandarani

Welcome to the forum.

Please read the rules. This forum is for mainstream (already published) science. We do not critique new theories. Get published and we're here for discussion.

This is a GREAT place, however, for discussing those parts of your science that you may have doubts about, if you do (as individual items, not as a whole theory)

We do not allow personal theory development at PF. Please see the rules under INFO at the top of the page. We discuss mainstream science that has been published in the professional literature. That is our mission, and we are very good at it.

Thank you both, @phinds and @berkeman, for the welcome and for the immediate clarification. My sincere apologies, I clearly misinterpreted the scope of the forum in my introduction, especially regarding the rules on new theory development. I have now read the guidelines thoroughly.

I understand and respect that the mission here is to discuss established, mainstream science, and I will certainly abide by that.

The distinction you made, phinds, is particularly helpful. My independent work has led me to many deep questions about specific topics in mainstream physics (like applications of knot theory, superfluid dynamics, and effective field theory). I will be sure to confine any future questions I have to these individual, established concepts in the appropriate sub-forums.

I appreciate you taking the time to guide me. I look forward to learning from the community.

Nice to see that you're open to talking here on PF even if it's not your own theories. Lots don't do that :)

That's a little hard to parse, but your heart is in the right place.

Welp, I guess I need to work on my articulation, but thanks :-)
