AI Thread Summary
David Daegling, a scientist from the University of Florida, discusses the evidence surrounding the existence of Bigfoot, a creature often associated with North American folklore. In an interview with ARCHAEOLOGY, he critiques the arguments made by proponents of Bigfoot's existence, suggesting that they lack convincing evidence. The conversation highlights the Patterson film, noting that its significance lies not in the creature's gait but in its physical proportions and features. The discussion reflects a blend of skepticism and fascination with the legend of Bigfoot, emphasizing the ongoing debate about its validity in scientific circles.

A scientist examines the evidence.

David Daegling of the University of Florida at Gainesville specializes in the jaw structure of early hominids, but he also happens to be familiar with that most elusive of North American creatures--Bigfoot. The author of Bigfoot Exposed (Walnut Creek, CA: AltaMira Press, 2004) recently spoke with ARCHAEOLOGY about the likelihood that giant primates live in the northwestern United States. [continued]

So, that's bigfoot exposed: Squatcho, the Marx brother who retired even before Gummo and Zeppo! Who knew?

Take heart. All this guy has done is to point out the flaws in the pro-bigfoot "experts'" arguments. None of these were ever very convincing to begin with. The thing in the Patterson film isn't interesting because of it's gait, but because of it's width and breadth in proportion to height, and because it has boobs.

Similar to the 2024 thread, here I start the 2025 thread. As always it is getting increasingly difficult to predict, so I will make a list based on other article predictions. You can also leave your prediction here. Here are the predictions of 2024 that did not make it: Peter Shor, David Deutsch and all the rest of the quantum computing community (various sources) Pablo Jarrillo Herrero, Allan McDonald and Rafi Bistritzer for magic angle in twisted graphene (various sources) Christoph...
Thread 'My experience as a hostage'
I believe it was the summer of 2001 that I made a trip to Peru for my work. I was a private contractor doing automation engineering and programming for various companies, including Frito Lay. Frito had purchased a snack food plant near Lima, Peru, and sent me down to oversee the upgrades to the systems and the startup. Peru was still suffering the ills of a recent civil war and I knew it was dicey, but the money was too good to pass up. It was a long trip to Lima; about 14 hours of airtime...
