Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the perceived quality and legitimacy of ITT Tech's engineering program, particularly focusing on the educational standards and qualifications of its graduates. Participants express skepticism about the depth of mathematical training provided in the program.

Discussion Character

  • Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • Some participants question the credibility of ITT Tech's engineering program, suggesting that it prioritizes profit over education.
  • Others argue that the degrees offered, specifically in Engineering Technology, may not meet the qualifications to be considered as engineering degrees in certain regions, such as Canada.
  • There are claims regarding the limited mathematical curriculum, with references to courses like "Introduction to Calculus" and only reaching Calculus 1.
  • Participants express disbelief about the adequacy of the mathematical training for someone claiming to be an engineer.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally share a critical view of ITT Tech's engineering program, but there is no consensus on the specifics of its qualifications or the implications of its curriculum.

Contextual Notes

Limitations include a lack of detailed information on the curriculum structure and regional differences in engineering qualifications.

ITT tech is there to make money. I do not think they care as much about education as about attracting students to their programs. They only offer Engineering technology degrees I think, which I don't think qualifies you to call yourself an engineer, at least in Canada, not sure how it works in the US of A.

How far do engineers go... only another term of stewart calculus? HAHAHA

The math course of their so-called "engineers" is "Introduction to Calculus"
