AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers around a disturbing sighting of an old, rusted refrigerator with the phrase "God hates puppies" spray-painted on it, evoking thoughts of horror elements from Stephen King's novel "It," which features a villain that harms a dog in a similar manner. The refrigerator, positioned on its side and showing bullet holes, raises questions about its safety and purpose. While the ominous details suggest it could be a dangerous trap, there's also the possibility that it is merely a prank or an artistic installation. The conversation emphasizes the importance of caution when encountering unknown situations and advises assessing risks carefully, recommending that individuals seek help or avoid potentially hazardous scenarios if they feel uncertain.

Scary "Practical Joke"

I saw an old rusted refrigerator turned on its side, with its back facing me. On the up-facing right side of this appliance, in gray spray-paint stencil letters, the following words: God hates puppies.

Here now I was thinking of the Stephen King novel, It, wherein one psychopathic villain kills a dog by sealing it inside a refrigerator.

Then I noticed bullet holes in the rusted refrigerator's unpainted back (facing me).

With trepidation I moved around to the front of the refrigerator. The refrigerator's freezer door and main door were missing and nothing was inside but a few plastic shelves.

It is difficult to determine whether this is a deadly trap or not based on the information provided. While the presence of bullet holes and the mention of a scary novel may lead one to believe it is a dangerous situation, it is also possible that it could simply be a prank or a piece of art. It is important to always approach any unknown situation with caution and to assess the potential risks before taking any action. If you are unsure or uncomfortable, it is best to seek help or avoid the situation altogether.

Thread 'My experience as a hostage'
I believe it was the summer of 2001 that I made a trip to Peru for my work. I was a private contractor doing automation engineering and programming for various companies, including Frito Lay. Frito had purchased a snack food plant near Lima, Peru, and sent me down to oversee the upgrades to the systems and the startup. Peru was still suffering the ills of a recent civil war and I knew it was dicey, but the money was too good to pass up. It was a long trip to Lima; about 14 hours of airtime...
