SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the search for a quick connect fitting that is rated for ultra-high vacuum (UHV) conditions, specifically around 1x10-8 Torr, and capable of withstanding cryogenic temperatures. Participants express difficulty in locating such a fitting and question the viability of using a copper seal under these stringent conditions. The consensus indicates that standard fittings may not meet the necessary specifications for both UHV and cryogenic applications.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of UHV vacuum systems and their specifications
  • Knowledge of cryogenic temperature effects on materials
  • Familiarity with vacuum fittings and sealing technologies
  • Experience with material compatibility in extreme conditions
NEXT STEPS
  • Research UHV-compatible quick connect fittings
  • Investigate materials suitable for cryogenic sealing
  • Explore the properties and limitations of copper seals in vacuum applications
  • Learn about alternative sealing technologies for UHV and cryogenic environments
USEFUL FOR

Engineers, researchers, and technicians working in vacuum technology, particularly those involved in UHV systems and cryogenic applications.

Cannot seem to find such a connection. The UHV vacuum sits around 1x10-8. The fitting needs to be rated for cryo temps.

Thanks

why wouldn't a copper seal work?

The nature of the work is currently set on these limitations unfortunately.
