AI Thread Summary
The discussion revolves around a paradox involving a piece of paper with contradictory statements on its front and back. The front asserts that the statement on the back is false, while the back claims the front statement is true. Participants explore the implications of these statements, suggesting that the paper must be capable of rotation to comprehend both sides. The conversation includes humorous interpretations, with one participant jokingly estimating the paper's rotation speed at one cycle per second, indicating that the paper's state is dependent on the observer's perception. Overall, the dialogue highlights the playful nature of logical paradoxes and the interplay between truth and perception.

Imagine a piece of paper, here's the statement on the back:

The statement on the frontside of this paper is true.

Here's the front:

The statement on the backside of this paper is false

Physics news on Phys.org
does it say "© ToysForDumbasses" in the corner

The question is - how fast is the paper rotating?

?

It's a very valid question. Logic decrees that the paper must be rotating or at least capable of rotating if we are able to know what is on the other side of the piece of paper. Unless we are assuming omniscience in which case the paper can not be rotating.
So,
How fast is it rotating?

guess :devil:

This is just a paridox, nothing to do with rotation
Not---> :smile:
But,---> :confused:

The rotating thing was most obviously a joke (and a good joke at that!).

My guess is 1 cycle / second.

joke eh?...

It rotates one time per users will (of it to rotate). HA.

Ref. Front of the paper. The statement on the back of paper is false that the statement on front is true.

Ref. Back of the paper. The statement on the front of the paper is true that the statement on back is false.
