AI Thread Summary
The discussion revolves around finding resources for an engineering essay focused on land tenure issues, particularly the rights of individuals to their land. The main topic is the concept of eminent domain, where governments seize private land for public use, often leading to the displacement of individuals. Participants suggest researching specific cases, such as the relocation of Inuit communities in Northern Canada for resource extraction and the flooding of valleys for hydroelectric dams. The conversation also touches on other instances of land displacement, like building major roads. The original poster expresses difficulty in locating relevant articles and seeks further suggestions for examples related to land tenure and displacement.

Hi everyone,

I didn't know where to really post this but I have an essay which I must write for an engineering course which relates to land tenures. I need to find an article which has enough information for me to write and essay or other sources. Is anyone familiar with any land tenure issues? Can anyone show me some links to these issues or point me in a good direction.

If this isn't allowed in this forum sorry xD.

I'm not asking someone to write the essay for me just help me find something to write about.

Thanks!

I think basically what I need is something that relates to issues of the individual and his right to the land. An example would be of forcing people to move from a parcel of land which the "own" in order to make something for the good of the public xD.

Something like that haha

Perhaps it would be useful to also search for articles on "eminent domain," which relates to governments seizing private lands for the good of the public.

Yes, it would be eminent domain, in the US.

AH, okay I will search that up if anyone else has seen anything interesting lately which is related to this that would be great if you told me =)

I can't find any relevant articles or good ones at that T_T.

Bump?!

Are you looking for specific cases or just general information on the principle?

I'm having issues finding a specific case xD. I never really like social classes and when I saw we had to write and essay I was like OH NO.

An example is that my friend is using how they relocated inuit people in Northern Canada in order to gather resources or something.

I need something like that xD

So why don't you Google looking for sources on relocating people in order to flood valleys for hydro electric dams?

Plenty of cases like that about.

One of my father's more favorite (favored by me) sayings is "never buy land on a flood plain."

He's brilliant, but principled.

I'd have simply built on stilts

The hydroelectric dams made a good few examples for the beginning of my essay. Anyone know about any other worldwide issues like this?

Well how about relocating people when they build major roads? (Motorways in Britain)
