Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the use of LaTeX for sharing equations and formulas in blog posts on the Physics Forums platform. Participants explore the functionality, issues, and experiences related to posting LaTeX content.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Technical explanation, Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant expresses confusion about the functionality of LaTeX in blogs, noting that their equations appear to be identical to those previously posted by others, raising questions about whether the equations are generated by their own computer.
  • Another participant shares a link that may provide additional information regarding the use of LaTeX in blogs.
  • A later reply suggests that LaTeX cannot be used in the blogs, although this conclusion is not universally accepted.
  • Another participant proposes using an extension to link to images instead of relying on LaTeX directly.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants do not reach a consensus on the functionality of LaTeX in blogs, with some suggesting it cannot be used while others propose alternative methods for sharing equations.

Contextual Notes

The discussion includes uncertainty regarding the actual capabilities of LaTeX in the blog environment and the potential for confusion over shared content.

I apologize if this has been answered already or if it does not belong here, but I have a question about LaTeX in blogs.

At some point, someone (prevect? or Robphy? I am not sure) posted a blog entry saying that LaTeX now worked and a couple of equations were shown.
Now I posted an entry and tried a few formula, but what comes out when the entry is viewed is actually exactly the same equations that I had seen on the post by Prevect or Robphy! Not only that, but these look like equations that I myself have used in some post in the past (and they are not common equations, they are from differential geometry. Since Prevect and Robphy know GR, I was not surprised to see these equations in their blogs, but now I am a bit confused).

I am starting to wonder if the equations I see in th eblog entries are not being generated by my own computer somehow.

Anyway, can someone let me know what the situation is with posting LaTeX stuff on the blogs?

Thanks
