Math Questions: Multiplication, Division & Partial Fractions

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion clarifies fundamental mathematical operations, specifically multiplication and division. Multiplication of A and B is definitively expressed as A*B, and the phrase "multiplication of A by B" also refers to A*B, not A/B. Division of A by B is represented as A/B, with B being the divisor. The term "partial fraction of A over B" is confirmed to mean A/B, although the concept of partial fractions requires further explanation.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of basic arithmetic operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Familiarity with mathematical notation and terminology.
  • Basic knowledge of fractions and their representations.
  • Concept of divisors and numerators in division.
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the concept of partial fractions in algebra.
  • Study the properties of multiplication and division in mathematics.
  • Explore mathematical notation and its significance in problem-solving.
  • Learn about common misconceptions in basic arithmetic operations.
USEFUL FOR

Students seeking clarification on basic arithmetic concepts, educators teaching foundational mathematics, and anyone looking to strengthen their understanding of multiplication, division, and fractions.

Homework Statement

Actually i want to ask something actually very easy...
i just don't know the meaning of some words in different questions...
firstly... multiplication of A and B means A*B right?
how about multiplication of A by B means A*B or A/B??

secondly... division of A by B means A/B or B/A?
which one is at the bottom??

thirdly... partial fraction of A over B means A/B right??

i want to ask these questions just to justify with answer...

please help me and thanks...

Yes.

It means A*B. The other is not multiplication.

secondly... division of A by B means A/B or B/A?
which one is at the bottom??
A/B. The one you are dividing by is on the bottom.

thirdly... partial fraction of A over B means A/B right??
Certainly "A over B" means A/B but I don't know what you mean by "partial fraction"

i want to ask these questions just to justify with answer...
