AI Thread Summary
Access to the Random Photos section on Physics Forums requires users to be logged in as members. A user reported that their sister and brother could not open the provided link, which led to confusion about whether a login was necessary. Screenshots indicated that the link redirected to a site flagged as unsafe, rather than directly to Physics Forums. The original link shared was misidentified, causing the access issue. It is essential to ensure the correct URL is used to avoid such problems.

I sent sister www.physicsforums.com link so she could view Random Photos in GD and she cannot open this website? So do you have to be logged in PF member to open forum. This is what I get from link: And this is what she gets

I don't think so. What is the link that is giving that error? I can test it. (the phone screenshots are not helping me so far...)

And sister in WI and brother in France could not open link

Not sure why you call it "a PF link". From what screenshots show this is a link to myiq dot com, which is recognized as "not safe" by the browser (and quick googling suggests it is often recognized as a scam site related to IQ tests).

Looks like the link to PF is being substituted by an entirely different link. Can be a problem with LINE, can be an infected device, I don't see how the problem could be on PF side (doesn't mean it is completely impossible, but that's hardly a first thing to suspect).

I just asked sister in Friday Harbor ,WA to type in www.physicsforms.com . That is independent of LINE. And she gets this and cannot open PF

It looks like it opened okay to me. Are you saying that once she opens that top page at PF, she has problems when she clicks on any of the links there?

Yes that's what she said. Have you tried to get into PF on a device that is not logged into PF ?

Not yet for this report, but I can. Which link on the top page did she click on exactly, and what was the result? I can try to reproduce this bug report, but I need the exact steps that led to her problem. Thanks.

Oh. Local Internet Network?

The message app seen above. I asked her to try and open PF independent of the link posted on LINE so as to isolate said problem at hand.@ berkeman . I am still waiting on her reply on the specifics

Ok it seems she was able to open PF from typing in website, from a device not logged into PF. And walking her to Random Photos was like pushing on a string. You can see the drift here. So she got to first page Random Photos. Give up time

I just tried in the incognito mode in Chrome: manually typed physicsforums dot com as the address, then got to Random photos in two clicks without any problems.
