Nanorex mechanical design software

AI Thread Summary
Nanorex, Inc. is set to release its NanoEngineer-1 software this fall, allowing users to design atomically precise mechanical machines. While it may take another ten to twenty years to synthesize these devices on demand, the software will enable effective simulation of such technologies. The initial version may not support the simulation of electronic circuits or photon interactions, but it offers a platform for designing advanced scientific instruments. NanoEngineer-1 is an open-source, 3D multi-scale modeling program that supports structural DNA nanotechnology and integrates various molecular dynamics and quantum mechanics systems for comprehensive nano-scale simulations. Users are expressing interest in the software's potential and are seeking installation support for platforms like Ubuntu. Discussions also touch on powering these devices, with electrostatic motors being highlighted as a viable option. The excitement around the software is evident, with users eager to explore its capabilities and applications in nanotechnology.

Nanorex, Inc. is due to release its NanoEngineer-1 software this fall. With this software you will be able to design your own atomically precise mechanical machines. It may be ten to twenty years before we have the http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2022170440316254003 to actually synthesize such devices on demand, but we can simulate them rather well already.

I don't know if this first release of NanoEngineer-1 will be able to simulate electronic circuits and the interactions of individual photons with these atomically precise machines, but that would really be interesting if it did. We would be able to start designing atomically precise scientific instruments at that point.

This device, for example, is a http://nanoengineer-1.com/content/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=45&Itemid=55" which can be reversed to operate as a compressed neon-powered motor.

In one mode of operation it could serve as a pump (for neon atoms) and in another it could be used to convert neon pressure to drive the rotor, making it a rotary motor.
