SUMMARY

The discussion centers on finding a suitable introductory yet rigorous textbook on Quantum Field Theory (QFT). The user has already attempted Zee's book but finds it challenging to follow. A recommendation is made for Srednicki's QFT book, which is noted for its logical rigor and is available as a free prepublication draft.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of basic quantum mechanics concepts
  • Familiarity with special relativity
  • Knowledge of classical field theory
  • Mathematical proficiency in calculus and linear algebra
NEXT STEPS
  • Read Srednicki's QFT prepublication draft
  • Explore supplementary resources on classical field theory
  • Investigate online courses on Quantum Field Theory
  • Review introductory texts on quantum mechanics for foundational concepts
USEFUL FOR

Students of theoretical physics, educators seeking teaching materials, and anyone looking to deepen their understanding of Quantum Field Theory.

I'm looking for a book on QFT that is both introductory and somewhat rigorous. I have Zee's book but for me it is kind of hard to follow. I would prefer something that is more like a textbook introduction to the subject - not necessarily covering the whole subject but logically rigorous for what it does cover. Can anybody recommend such a book?

Thanks in advance.
