OLED Watt, Ohms, and Volt Project

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion centers on designing an OLED reader to display watts, ohms, and volts from a circuit. The user references the SN54LS696 component from Texas Instruments as a potential key element for the project. The conversation highlights the importance of understanding circuit design, particularly in relation to AC mains connections and safety considerations. Participants emphasize the need for foundational knowledge in electronics to successfully implement the project.

PREREQUISITES
  • Basic understanding of circuit design principles
  • Familiarity with OLED display technology
  • Knowledge of measuring electrical parameters (watts, ohms, volts)
  • Awareness of AC mains safety protocols
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the specifications and applications of the SN54LS696 component
  • Learn about OLED display interfacing techniques
  • Study electrical measurement techniques for watts, ohms, and volts
  • Explore safety practices for working with AC mains circuits
USEFUL FOR

Electronics enthusiasts, hobbyists designing measurement devices, and anyone interested in circuit design and safety in high-voltage environments.

Hi,
I am in fact quite new to these forums but have been lurking for a while. I am trying to design a OLED reader that will display the watts, ohms, and volts after being read from a circuit. Almost exactly like this:
Any ideas on where to start? I am not necessarily a novice when it comes to circuits but I am no expert either. Any input on a good place to start would be great!
Right now I was looking at this: http://www.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/pdf/28026/TI/SN54LS696.html , I think this could be a vital component in creating this circuit, but once again, I would appreciate some input.
Thanks for your time.

Welcome to the PF.

Are you intending to measure the power being consumed from an AC Mains connection? It sounds like you don't have much experience with circuits, let alone AC Mains high-voltage circuits and safety...?
