Photo Contest - New Year's Resolution (12/25-12/31)

In summary, the photo contest has a "New Year's Resolution" theme, and submissions should reflect personal or collective goals for the new year. To enter, participants must submit their photo through a designated form and follow submission guidelines. Eligibility criteria may vary, but generally participants must be of a certain age, have rights to their photo, and agree to contest terms. The number of submissions allowed may depend on the organizer's rules. Winners will be chosen by a panel of judges or public voting, based on criteria such as creativity, originality, and adherence to the theme. Winners will be announced after the contest ends.

New Year's Resolution

With the dawn of another new year, many people will make their New Year's resolution. But can such resolutions be captured in pictures? See if you can be creative and capture some of the more popular new year's resolution.

Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!

Contest Rules:

1. Any digital photo or digitally-scanned photo relevant to the theme will be accepted within the contest period. In case there's a gray area, or you're not sure if the picture is suitable, check with me first.

2. Please resize your digital photo to no more than 650 x 490 or 490 x 650 pixels. You may also crop your picture if you wish. You are also allowed to adjust the brightness and contrast of your picture but these should not dramatically alter the look of the picture. But other than those, any form of picture editing or modification is not allowed. This is a photo contest, not a picture editing/special effect contest. You may add a watermark or your name/nickname to the photo for identification purposes.

3. Upload your photos to any of the photo servers such as imageshack or photobucket. Then post it the relevant contest thread and link your picture using the img command. PM me if you do not know how.

4. Only ONE picture per member per contest. Once a picture is posted, it cannot be changed other than a total withdrawl by that member from that week's photo contest. Exceptions will be made for modification to comply with the rules, such as resizing.

5. At the end of the contest period, I will open a poll and every PF member can vote for the picture they like best.

6. Note that in case we have a large number of entries, I will do the polling in more than one thread. If that's the case, you can vote in each of the polling threads. The photos will be assigned in the polling threads in the order they were submitted.

7. These pictures must be something that you took, not something taken off someone else's photo albums or taken by someone else. I have no way of checking if you did this, so we'll go by the honor system.

8. You can use a picture only once. Once it is used in a contest, it cannot be reused in another contest.

9. Please post only pictures meant for submission in this thread[/QUOTE]

Your new year's resolution is "cable management"?

What? Is that not good enough? At least I'll follow through. Unlike those "go to the gym" guys.

Edward: So what is the new year's resolution represented by your picture?

I suppose I should have included in this week's rules that one has to include the actual resolution with the picture.

My New Year's resolution this year is to get onto a hot air balloon! I've never been in one and I think this year might be the year I tackle this one. I already have done parasailing last year, so that's off the list now.

My new years resolution is to have the yard sale that I had put all of that stuff out for just before Thanksgiving.

Get caught up with chores on the property

This is one section of the ~500 ft long ditch that I had to trench for power and water runs, when I converted my barn to an office. That was one heck of a lot of work!

I don't want to become the bee, bee-keeper, producer of mead, and I don't want to do better photographs of bees:smile:
I want to be more diligent.

You have to know Marzena to understand why this is an absurd resolution If she would want me to become more diligent, that would be fully understandable.

I resolve to focus more clearly on important details, to keep my target firmly in mind at all times, to contrast important themes in class with good examples, and to increase the cutoff score for all students by minimizing aberrant test questions.

Hum... OK... but how does your resolution matches the picture which appears to be a something one would use as a fiducial? Are you using it as a literal meaning of how one can measure a "resolution"?

{this is what happens when *I* too have used similar stuff}

No reed stalk

My resolution is to make this pic again without reed stalk in front of the chick that gets the fish (notice also the two chicks below the right wing).

It's a (partial image of a) Richardson resolution test slide- the numbers are in microns. Puns (both literal and visual) were added at no charge. :)

But the picture itself does not conform to the theme, which is New Year's Resolution, not measurement resolution.

You have less than a day left to substitute that with another picture.

After seeing Andy's post and picture I was thinking he is a sure winner with the idea and puns.
