AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers around a Thanksgiving-themed photo contest where participants are encouraged to submit images that reflect what they are thankful for. Contest rules specify that only one photo per member is allowed, and it must be a personal image, not edited beyond basic adjustments like brightness and contrast. Participants are instructed to upload their photos to an image-sharing site and link them in the contest thread using specific formatting. Several members express their gratitude through their submissions, sharing personal stories and experiences, while also navigating the technical aspects of posting images. Some participants encounter issues with photo sizes and formatting but receive guidance from others in the thread. The overall tone is supportive, with members encouraging each other and sharing their appreciation for the holiday and their loved ones.

Thanksgiving

For this week contest, it is all about things, or people, that you are thankful for. So snap a photo of something or something that you are thankful that you have in your life, for whatever the reason.

To all those celebrating the occasion this week, I wish you a very happy and safe Thanksgiving. And wear a safety helmet if you go out shopping on Black Friday!

Zz.

Contest Rules:

1. Any digital photo or digitally-scanned photo relevant to the theme will be accepted within the contest period. In case there's a gray area, or you're not sure if the picture is suitable, check with me first.

2. Please resize your digital photo to no more than 800 x 600 or 600 x 800 pixels. You may also crop your picture if you wish. You are also allowed to adjust the brightness and contrast of your picture but these should not dramatically alter the look of the picture. But other than those, any form of picture editing or modification is not allowed. This is a photo contest, not a picture editing/special effect contest. You may add a watermark or your name/nickname to the photo for identification purposes.

3. Upload your photos to any of the photo servers such as imageshack or photobucket. Then post it the relevant contest thread and link your picture using the img command. PM me if you do not know how.

4. Only ONE picture per member per contest. Once a picture is posted, it cannot be changed other than a total withdrawl by that member from that week's photo contest. Exceptions will be made for modification to comply with the rules, such as resizing.

5. At the end of the contest period, I will open a poll and every PF member can vote for the picture they like best.

6. Note that in case we have a large number of entries, I will do the polling in more than one thread. If that's the case, you can vote in each of the polling threads. The photos will be assigned in the polling threads in the order they were submitted.

7. The photo of the subject must be something that you took directly, not via in intermediary medium, and not taken by someone else. Unless otherwise noted, a photo of another photo, painting, print, etc. does not qualify.

8. You can use a picture only once. Once it is used in a contest, it cannot be reused in another contest.

9. Please post only pictures meant for submission in this thread. Photos not meant for submission must not be posted in the contest thread. Posting of more than one photos by a member may result in an automatic disqualification from the week's contest.

do we just post photos here?

"Then post it the relevant contest thread and link your picture using the img command. PM me if you do not know how." what does this even mean?about to post my cat. lol

Assuming you already have your picture uploaded to an image-sharing site as per step 3 above...

Above the reply box at the bottom of the thread, to the right of the smiley-face icon, is an icon that's supposed to represent a picture. When I roll my mouse over it, I see a tool-tip that says "Image". Click on that icon and you'll get a box for entering the URL of your picture.

The other way to do it is to enter the URL directly in your reply, between
tags. For example:

URL]

After you post the message, the tags and the URL disappear and you see the image instead. (For this post, I've doctored the tags so the forum software doesn't actually interpret them.)

ZapperZ operates on US Central Time, so you now have 34 minutes before his midnight (the deadline).

OK, I'd better post something so Ironmanlet's contribution isn't the only one. I see he posted it while I was preparing mine. Right now I'm thankful for the terrific weather we've been having this week after a long rainy spell. In fact, just today I went out on a picture-taking trip to take advantage of the weather and the Thanksgiving holiday. Lots of families out at the park today, as you can see at the left.

@Ironmanlet : Unfortunately, your photo size is beyond the limit set for this contest per the Rules. I'll include it in this round because I didn't have time to get back to it due to the holidays here. But please make sure the photo submission does not exceed the size limit.
