Once you become a physicist how hard is it to get a job in the field (any field)? Is it bleak and nearly hopeless or is it easier than I think it is. I don't really want a job at a university so are the many opportunities at other places for research? Does anyone know where I could find any employment statistics or look for possible opportunities? Sorry if this is the wrong place for the question but it seemed right.

I can say that employment opportunities for physicists vary depending on the specific field and industry. Overall, there is a high demand for physicists in fields such as technology, engineering, and research and development. However, the job market for physicists in academia may be more competitive.

In terms of finding employment statistics, you can check the Bureau of Labor Statistics or professional organizations such as the American Physical Society. Additionally, networking and staying up-to-date on industry trends and advancements can also help in finding job opportunities.

It is also important to note that while job prospects may be different in various fields, having a strong background and skills in physics can make you a valuable candidate for a wide range of careers. So, it is not necessarily "bleak and nearly hopeless," but it may require effort and determination to find the right fit for your skills and interests.
