Dear Fellows,

Well, i am working on a power plant and i need to analyse the Cooling Water Piping Circuit (Supply/Return piping), i.e., from Turbine Surface Condenser to Cooling Towers and from Cooling Water Pumps to Turbine Surface Condenser. The Lines are huge around 52" NPS and are buried under ground and gets aboveground just before connecting to the equipment. What design considerations should i have in mind ? Any need of anchor blocks ?

Will be very grateful if you recommend me some literature.

Thanks.

I'm sure your power plant has codes for piping, but as for your question, it is hard to see exactly what you are having trouble with...

What analysis do you need to do?

Much could be said about the topic of pipe stress.

Start with the Power Piping Code, ASME B31.1.

Do you have access to pipe stress software? If not, CAEPIPE is an excellent value. Caesar is commin.
