i was told that progressive waves has no nodes, why is it so? can anyone here explain please?
Progressive waves, by definition, are characterized by continuous motion and do not exhibit nodes, which are points of zero amplitude in standing waves. In the context of wave mechanics, a node represents a location where destructive interference occurs, leading to no displacement. Since progressive waves propagate energy without stationary points, the absence of nodes is a fundamental characteristic. Understanding this distinction clarifies why progressive waves cannot possess nodes.
