Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the functioning of quarter wave chokes and waveguides, focusing on the principles of electromagnetic radiation reflection at specific wavelength fractions. Participants seek clarification and explanations regarding these concepts.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory
  • Conceptual clarification
  • Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant requests an explanation of how quarter wave chokes and waveguides work.
  • Another participant emphasizes the importance of self-research and suggests looking up information online before asking for explanations.
  • A participant questions why only certain fractions of wavelengths reflect electromagnetic radiation.
  • Further inquiries are made about the reasoning behind the specific fractions of wavelengths that lead to reflection.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants express differing views on the approach to learning, with some advocating for self-research while others seek direct explanations. The specific question regarding the fractions of wavelengths remains unresolved, with no consensus on the underlying principles.

Contextual Notes

The discussion lacks detailed explanations of the underlying physics principles and does not resolve the questions regarding the specific fractions of wavelengths that reflect electromagnetic radiation.

hi all, could someone please explain how the above work? Thanks in advance.

Science news on Phys.org
yes I could :)

but what research have you done for yourself so far ?
have you even tried to type your topic title into google ?

the first google hit was a wiki link that told you everything you would probably want to know

on Physics Forum, we try to encourage people to learn to do research, rather than have some one just spout out all the answers. You will learn much more that way :)
If there is something specific in that wiki link you don't understand, then ask specific questions

regards
Dave

yes why do only certain fractions of wavelenths reflect em radiation?

and sorry i thought if someone explained it in a summarized fashion it would help.

so why those fractions of the wavelenth?
